Intro to Machining
Intro to machining
Women and men who enjoy working with their hands, who have an eye for detail, and are looking for a skill that can provide both a job and a career, are invited to participate in a 60-hour “Machining Basics” class being offered by the Corry Higher Education Council. The class with instructor Dana Kruse will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 3 through Dec. 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Career & Technology Center at Corry Area High School. Participants will learn to operate an engine lathe and vertical milling machine, measure using micrometers, calipers and a dial indicator, and interpret simple blueprints. Participants will exit with sufficient skills to be employable by area machine shops. The cost is $750, but partial scholarships for up to half the cost are available to those with a financial need. Registration and payment are required by noon Thursday, Sept. 28. Call the Hi-Ed at 664-9405.
